These photos show the subfloor and the beginning of the deck laying process. The blocks and their respective “checkouts” are clearly visible. The fall one the concrete was 0 – 70mm in places.
Each joist and each block was different from the preceding one. Therefore, each block had to be custom measured, cut and installed. This process took nearly a five days alone. The 140mm Merbau decking was supplied in consistent 5.7M lengths to minimise joins. Here it is being laid out to establish the spacing and position of “picture framing” and breaker boards”.
